Texoma Lakefest Regatta

Information for New Participants

For new racers (and racers who're new to Lakefest), participating in a major regatta may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Not so! As long as you know where to be and when, the rest comes pretty easy. Just follow these four easy steps:

1. If you're bringing a boat to Grandpappy Point Marina, you'll want to check-in with the Marina Office, so you can be assigned a slip for your boat. If you've reserved a cabin or campsite, that's where you'll pick up your keys and get directions. The Marina Office will also direct you to the boat launching area if needed.

2. Knowing how to get to the Texoma Sailing Club clubhouse is key. This is where registration occurs, where skippers pick up their skipper bags, get their fleet flags and scratch sheets, where the Skipper's Meeting (regatta orientation) takes place.

3. The Texoma Sailing Club clubhouse is where racers can come for complimentary coffee and donuts every morning and Happy Hour every afternoon.

4. This year, both the Sailors' Reception Friday night and the Shipwrecked Ball on Saturday night will be held at The Point Restaurant. Tickets to these events can be purchase here.

Marina Office for Boat Launch, Cabin and Campground Check-In

If you're staying in one of the cabins, you'll check-in and pick up your keys here. If you're staying in one of the campsites, you'll also check-in here and get directions to your site. If you'd like to stay on-site during Lakefest, early reservations are highly recommended.

Grandpappy Point Marina has graciously offered free use of their travel lift for launching, a free slip for participating boats during Lakefest and free haulout (by both the travel lift and a crane). All they ask is for participants to check-in so that they can be assigned a slip (eliminates confusion over which slip belongs to what boat) and receive an access key to the appropriate dock.

Access to the travel lift (marked with a yellow circle on this map) is from the parking lot immediately behind the marina office. The haulout crane will be located in this area on Sunday.

Texoma Sailing Club Clubhouse for Registration and Skipper's Meeting

Check-in is Thursday night from 5 - 8 p.m. and Friday from 8 - 9 a.m. At check-in, skipper's will receive a "skipper bag" full of goodies, sailing instructions for the regatta, a scratch sheet showing all the competitors in their fleet, and a fleet flag. If you have any questions, registration is a great time to ask them.

The Skipper's Meeting is at 9 a.m. Friday. Here race officials will brief skippers on everything they need to know to participate in the regatta.

The Texoma Sailing Club clubhouse is great place to meet, mix and mingle with other sailors before and after a great day of racing.

Every morning, coffee and donuts will be served at 7 a.m. After racing every afternoon, there will be a live band and beer at the clubhouse from 4 - 6 p.m. In addition, Grandpappy Point Marina will be offering complimentary shuttle service from the clubhouse to the Regatta Pavilion for dinner (and the parties) each evening.
