Lakefest Flotilla: Join in the fun!
The Lakefest Flotilla was created to give Texoma sailors a more laid-back option for participating in Lakefest. If you'd like to participate in the racing and the parties, but aren't interested in – or don't have the crew for – buoy racing, then the flotilla is for you!
The flotilla is comprised of a set of point-to-point distance races on Friday and Saturday, April 14-15. Sailors from the north and western marinas on Lake Texoma will have starting positions set close to your home marina on Friday (4/14), and the first race will conclude near The Point Restaurant at Grandpappy Point Marina on Friday afternoon. Sailors from Grandpappy will be given a course to race on Friday afternoon, starting and finishing at The Point.
Paid registrants will receive complimentary guest slips at Grandpappy Point Marina Friday and Saturday nights.
On Saturday, everyone will start and finish at The Point, with a pursuit start (your starting time will be based on your boats handicap). Each race will each be approximately 2 to 4 hours in length.
Given that sailors may be starting from locations all around Lake Texoma on Friday, we will hold the Skippers Meeting via conference call and send the Sailing Instructions via email. For "non-Grandpappy Marina" skippers, we are accommodating a late check-in on Friday night, AFTER the first race (we just need you to fax, mail or email a signed entry form).
